25-year-old bride refuses to let her stepdad of 2 years walk her down the aisle at her wedding, despite her mom's insistence: 'My parents got divorced when I was 16, but my dad was still a very supportive and prominent role in my life, and still is.'

Why on earth would her stepdad walk her down the aisle when her dad is alive and part of her life?

Not every bride has a father to walk her down the aisle, and that can be a source of anxiety on her wedding day. She might opt for her mom, sibling, uncle, or grandparent to walk her down the aisle, but depending on the reasons for her father's absence, it might sting for her not to be able to uphold the tradition the way society expects brides to.

Some brides have no shortage of father figures in their lives who they'd like to honor on their wedding day. They might have two dads, or a dad and a stepdad. If their stepdad was part of their upbringing and they want to honor him at their wedding, I see nothing wrong with asking both dad and stepdad to walk you down the aisle! There's a chance a bride's dad would have a problem with such an arrangement, but at the end of the day, the most important thing at a wedding is whether the woman in white is happy.

The bride in this story has divorced parents, and thought it was a no-brainer that her dad would be the one walking her down the aisle. She barely knows her stepdad, who married her mom three years ago. Her mom is convinced that because she has a bad relationship with her ex-husband, her current husband should walk her daughter down the aisle at her wedding.
